We really enjoyed our field trip to see 'Ulalena on April 31st! Check out a few pictures in the Photo Gallery!
This will be our last week of SBA testing! We will complete the Math Performance task on Wednesday 5/11 and Thursday 5/12 (if more time is needed) followed by the HSA Science assessment on Friday 5/13.
Don't forget, next week is SPIRIT WEEK! The schedule is as follows:

Ho'ike Day is fast apporaching on Wednesday, May 25th. Fourth graders will be asked to dress in "aloha wear" including flower print shirts or dresses and slippers/sandals, which will be removed for our performance.

Hope everyone had a fun and restful Spring Break! We had a great field trip to the Hawaii Nature Center today! We learned about changes that have shaped our islands, native and invasive plants, watershed, the scientific method and the importance of forestation. Check out pictures in the Photo Gallery!

Thank you to all families who came out to participate in our 2nd Annual Spring Fling fundraiser! It was a huge success! 4th grade will be using the proceeds from our game booth towards our upcoming field trips to the Hawaii Nature Center and Ulalena.
Check out our photo gallery to see new photos of our field trip to the Bailey House Museum and our first Ti Leaf lei-making workshop when we prepped the leaves that we'll be twisting into lei next week, Friday, March 11.
Leadership Day - Tuesday, March 15 - is fast approaching! An informational insert will be included in the school bulletin going home on Monday. Here's a link, too. Students in our class will be showcasing their leadership skills through presentations about the ecosystems they've been studying. Please check your child's HW binder and/or the "Homework" tab above for more information about the project.

PRE SALE TICKETS - PTSA will be pre-selling tickets on Thursday, 2/25 & Friday, 2/26 before and after school in front of the office and cafeteria. You can get 25 tickets for $20 -Presale only. At event it will be 1 ticket for $1. Tickets are used for games, gnome garden and face painting. Cash or credit card required for food, drinks, silent auction, and craft vendors.
Parking Information - ONLY staff with a parking pass will be able to park in top lot behind campus. Public parking will be available in the parking lots by the Cafeteria and the Office.
Shuttle - We do have a free shuttle available between the Maui County public parking on High Street and the school from 1:30-6:30pm.
New Activities - Gnome Garden - For 5-10 tickets kids can make a gnome garden with wood bases then you decorate with moss, plants, marbles and etc. Plus, you get your own gnome. Also, we will be having face painting for 5-10 tickets depending on the design you pick.
Silent Auction - Thanks to our amazing 'ohana and community, we have some amazing silent auction items. Help us spread the word to friends and family!

The second annual PTSA Spring Fling is coming up on Saturday, February 27th 2-6pm. The 4th grade team is looking for parents & students to volunteer to help at our game booth for 1 hour shifts (form was sent home today). Also, our class will be making beautiful artwork to sell a the silent auction so be sure to check it out!!

Several students from our class will be participating in tomorrow's 7 Habits Assembly! They've been working hard on preparing a skit to demonstrate Habit 5 - Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood. We are looking forward to watching them perform!
We had a blast learning about Polynesian Voyaging and Hokulea through drama, dance, and visual arts at Can Do Day on Tuesday 2/2! Check out the Photo Gallery for pictures and links to a couple of videos!

We had our first "Malama Service Time" today! Our class has decided to give back to our school by helping with the Box Tops program. We synergized this afternoon to sort and bundle over 1500 Box Tops - that's worth over $150 for our school! It sure feels good to help out and give back.
**Don't forget there's NO SCHOOL on Monday, Feb. 1st and our FIELD TRIP to Can Do Day at the MACC is Tuesday, Feb. 2nd!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR and WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL!

Wow! November sure flew by! I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving!
We have started our 2nd trimester of PLC classes, which now includes P.E. with Mrs. Jones and Gardening with Aunty "Cocoa" Corinna every Thursday. We also have computer class every Monday and are working on creating a virtual field trip of plants on our campus!

We are starting the Book It! reading program today! Our reading goal for the rest of October is for each of us to read for at least 300 min. Please record your daily reading minutes on your NEW Book It! Reading Log INSTEAD of in your SPIN. If you reach the goal by 10/29, you'll receive a coupon for a FREE Pizza Hut Personal Pan Pizza! Don't forget to also record EACH BOOK you finish on your Book Log in your HW binder. Click here and here for a few goodies for the techies.

Today, we developed our individual Personal Mission Statements! We used this video to inspire us and this brainstorm sheet to help us decide what each of us is "all about". We will also be setting our personal goals this week and will begin tracking them next week!

We will be working as a class to choose our top 3 candidates for Lighthouse Team Class Representative by Wednesday 9/16. The chosen candidates will then need to complete the application and contract and return them to Mrs. Stafford by Fri. 9/18. Candidates will then be interviewed and selected by a team of teachers and Student Lighthouse Team Officers.

I hope you were able to become more familiar with our H-104 learning environment and got to see products of your child's hard work. I look forward to seeing you again at 1st quarter conferences in October.
